Introduction

ProActive Psychological Services guarantees you a highly professional service. All of our Psychologists have a Masters in Counselling or Clinical Psychology and are full members of the Australian Psychological Society. While psychologists do not need to have a masters degree in order to work in a private practice, a professional masters degree is a key element in becoming a professional psychologist able to work independently while drawing on a very high standard of training and supervised experience.

Overall, our company has the advantage of a team all of whom have been carefully selected on the grounds of their personality, training, experience and expertise. We also have the advantage of having a much wider range of areas of expertise than would normally be found in any one practice. This allows us to assist you much more effectively and expertly. Because we have such a large and diverse team, we are able to provide psychometric assessments, treatment and staff training both in a group and individually to your employees in almost every area of psychology. Critical Incident Debriefing for workplace traumatic events

We have many years of experience in handling traumatic events including the Lane Cove tunnel collapse, workplace deaths and armed robberies. These services have been for a wide range of corporations ranging from major multinationals down to small businesses. We have a state-of-the-art system of dealing with the critical incident and following up staff members who need it.

Risk Management Assessment of staff for retrenchment

We have been involved with risk management of staff during both small and large retrenchments and for major multi-national corporations. This has included assessment of staff for those who need counselling, categorising staff into low, medium and high risk categories, carrying out both crisis counselling and, where needed and requested, longer-term counselling for those at high risk. This is a very useful service as we have found that there are times when the risk to the company as well as to the employees can be extreme and can be circumvented with appropriate risk management.

Counselling and treatment for troubled and troublesome employees

We carry out a lot of counselling for employees who have run into a personal problem that they have trouble dealing with. This is very useful for your organisation as it can help a troubled and therefore low-performing employee to resolve their problem and increase their performance — Also people who are causing trouble for the corporation are referred by the corporation for our assistance which usually involves assessment and/or counselling both to inform management of the nature and extent of the problem, consultations with management on how to manage the employee, and intervention to assist the employee to resolve and/or reduce their problem behaviour. We also run training courses for management and human resources staff on skills for carrying out counselling in the workplace.

Anger Management Individual Training

The Anger Management course is a 12-module individual course of treatment and each of these modules are conducted over a period of one hour and each of these is conducted on a one-on-one basis. This course involves a combination of highly structured Psychoeducation, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy techniques, combined with motivational techniques and exercises designed for intensive training of new attitudes, thought patterns and behaviours.

The aim of the course is to enable the person to know how to control their anger and to have the necessary skills and practice to be able to put this into action. This is reinforced by exercises that are designed to increase the person's level of motivation, their awareness of alternative strategies, and the skills to put all of these into practice.

The course includes several methods of control of anger and each of these interact with each of the others to make a comprehensive and effective, yet individualised, planned pattern of behaviour. The person is assisted to design their own plan of action that they can undertake to reduce their tendency to become angry and to control it if it happens. It also includes skills such as assertiveness training and building relationships that are designed to reduce the likelihood of anger and to develop the person's environment to make it more conducive to the resolution of issues that may lead to anger.

Interpersonal conflict, including assertiveness training

While anger Management individual training is useful when a corporation has an individual who has difficulty controlling their anger, when there is general conflict in the organisation this is most effectively and efficiently handled by conflict resolution training. This can be carried out in your workplace.
